According to VXDAS, Launch Tech has released its August 2026 heavy-duty software update for the X-431 platform, adding diagnostic coverage for the FUSO eCanter electric truck, Weichai engines, and Scania systems using DoIP. For an independent shop, this is less about a new menu on a tablet than about whether the tool can now stay connected to the vehicle in front of you. Mixed fleets are putting electric trucks, Chinese-built powertrains, and Ethernet-based diagnostics on the same work schedule, and the update follows that pressure.
The important part is the coverage, not the release label
The headline addition is FUSO. The update adds scanning for the Canter series and introduces model menus for the eCanter 1.1, the European eCanter GSR, the Shogun/SuperGreat 24M with 6R and 6S systems, and the Canter 24MODEL. The practical distinction is clear: the platform is being extended to cover both diesel Canter vehicles and the electric eCanter range.
That matters at the workbench because diagnostic access is often the first point of friction. Before you can test a system, you need the tool to identify the vehicle, enter the correct control module, and expose the functions the software actually supports. The update does not turn every X-431 into a universal solution, but it gives the supported FUSO models a defined place inside the heavy-duty workflow.
Weichai receives a substantial engine expansion. The WP_DIESEL V12.90 release introduces or improves the proprietary WISE10B, WISE52A, WISE15, WISE15C, WISE10A, and WISE13D/13G engine systems. It also optimizes actuator tests and special functions across those systems. For technicians, that is the difference between merely reading a fault and having more room to work through the mechanical and control-side causes behind it.
The Bosch section adds systems for Jiangling P2283, Foton P2252, SAIC Maxus P1816 vehicles built after 2023, and Nanjing Iveco P591. These are not just familiar European or Japanese badge combinations. They reflect the Chinese-built and export-market vehicles increasingly appearing in mixed commercial fleets.
Scania moves further into Ethernet diagnostics
The Scania V16.30 update adds nine vehicle models and nine DoIP systems, with one DoIP system assigned to each model. DoIP, or Diagnostics over Internet Protocol, uses Ethernet-based communication rather than relying only on older diagnostic interfaces.
That changes the physical side of the job. A diagnostic session is no longer simply a matter of finding the right connector and waiting for a module to answer. The interface, adapter arrangement, software coverage, and vehicle selection all have to line up. When the connection fails, the fault may sit in the communication path before we ever reach the engine or transmission data.
For a shop using an X-431 PRO3 LINK HD or X-431 PAD5 LINK HD, the immediate task is therefore verification rather than assumption. Install the package through the standard X-431 software-update menu, then check the actual FUSO, Weichai, Bosch, or Scania entries relevant to the vehicle on your lift. The available coverage should be confirmed at the model and system level before promising a test, calibration, or special function to a fleet customer.
The update also touches other heavy-duty systems. HD_ZF V10.78 adds the Basicpower and EcoTronic systems and optimizes coverage for TraXon1, TraXon2, and EC3-TPT. HD_AGCO adds Perkins transmission-fill calibration and SHIBAURA N4LDI engine support.
What to check before the truck arrives
The update applies to the X-431 PRO3 LINK HD and X-431 PAD5 LINK HD. According to the source, shops using the PAD5 LINK HD receive the same coverage as those using the dedicated PRO3 LINK HD when the heavy-duty truck license and adapter pack are in place.
Active subscriptions download the packages directly. Expired subscriptions require renewal through a subscription card or the in-device mall. That is a small administrative detail, but it is the sort that leaves a technician standing beside a truck with a cable in hand and no usable software package.
Before taking on work involving these newly listed vehicles, we should check three things: whether the tablet is one of the supported models, whether the heavy-duty license and adapter pack are active where required, and whether the specific vehicle and control system appear after the update. For Scania, the DoIP entry deserves particular attention; for FUSO, confirm the exact eCanter or Canter model menu rather than relying on a broad badge search.
The direction is more significant than any single version number. Electric commercial vehicles, Weichai-powered export trucks, Chinese-built platforms, and Ethernet-based Scania diagnostics are being folded into the same independent-shop toolchain. The software may open the door, but the long-term result still depends on selecting the correct system, proving the communication path, and testing what the vehicle is actually doing rather than trusting a familiar name on the screen.
